Minister for Diaspora Srđan Srećković and Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs Đorđo Prstojević, visited Wien on 20 and 21 March 2009, where they met with presidents of Serbian clubs and associations from Austria, church representatives and distinguished individuals.

Draft Law on Diaspora presented at a Press Conference

Minister for Diaspora Srđan Srećković today presented the draft Law on Diaspora which envisages stronger ties between Serbia and its Diaspora through the Diaspora assembly, Diaspora register and observation of the Day of the Diaspora.

Roundtable “Rehabilitation of Political Prisoners and Convicts”

The Ministry for Diaspora was the benefactor of the roundtable discussion “Rehabilitation of Political Prisoners and Convicts” which was held at the Faculty of Law, on 20 May, at 10 am. The organizers of the roundtable were Serbian Unity Congress from Washington, Studenica Foundation from San Francisco and Serbian Unity Congress from Austria.

Diaspora Voted a Day Before in 4 Countries

Serbian citizens living in the USA, Great Britain, Canada and Portugal voted in Parliament Elections yesterday, the day before the elections at other voting centers in Serbia and abroad.

More than 52,000 signed in Voting Records Abroad 13 New Voting Stations

According to the available information, the number of citizens who have registered in voting records abroad has reached 52,000, which is a 40% increase compared to the previous presidential elections. As a consequence of diaspora’s increased interest, the number of voting stations has grown from 65 to 75.

Press Conference on Serbian Language Learning in Diaspora in Ministry for Diaspora The Government of the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with its media partners, “Večernje novosti” and RTS, conducted the action “New Serbian Passport – New Serbian Image”. As the reminiscence of the two centuries of Serbian statehood, a renowned jury selected the first 204 owners of this travel document.
